What We Do
WORKSHOPS
Our workshops provide valuable information and resources to educate and empower individuals in the prevalence, risk factors and altered physiology of those living with diabetes (patients’ experience) and lifestyle interventions, such as diet and exercise to help people live better lives.
CAMPAIGNS
PAFORET2D engages in a series of events that are meant to prevent diabetes and improve public health.
Our campaign aims to raise diabetes awareness and prevention strategies; and assess diabetes prevalence among groups, communities, and boroughs.
Our campaign activities include distributing diabetes educational materials; advising people to make an appointment with their GPs for further checks and advice where there is concern; and doing screening tests for risk factors of diabetes, which include clinical and non-clinical measurements:
- Blood glucose test
- Blood pressure checks
- Cholesterol checks
- Height and Weight measurements
- Body Mass Index measurement
- Waist circumference measurement

PROJECTS
The number of diabetes sufferers in Africa remains uncertain, although an IDF estimate put the figure at 7.5 million diabetic adults between 20 and 79 years of age. It is thought that this figure is now much larger.
The WHO (World Health Organisation) and the IDF (International Diabetes Federation) estimate that the diabetes population will double over the next twenty-five years in Africa.
SKIP DIABETES
SKIP DIABETES is a mobile diabetes workshop programme that educates people on the risk factors of T2D and cardiovascular diseases. The programme runs for three months with an initial two-hour workshop delivery, which is delivered by qualified and experienced Diabetes Educators. In each delivery, the groups’ language preference and culture, choice of venue and familiar resources are considered.
