And Your Community
Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) is associated with a progressive insulin secretory flaw because of insulin resistance that rises the body’s demand for insulin to keep glucose homeostasis; yet preventable. Over the last 4 decades, research findings have shown that the prevalence of type 2 diabetes accounts for 90 to 95% of the entirely diabetes. The focus for preventing T2DM is for upkeeps of blood glucose level to the normal range. Diabetes is one of the major causes of death lately.
The persistence of hyperglycaemia in T2DM can result to chronic complex complications such as neuropathy, nephropathy and retinopathy as well as macrovascular problems, and are linked with early morbidity and mortality. These situations threaten life and can cause a person to lose consciousness, mental state and perhaps death; consequently, campaign awareness to educate people at both individual and population level is required. Whilst the pathogenesis of diabetes problems has been widely researched, no form of aetiology could explain fully the diverse complications; hence, better approaches to combat the epidemic becomes crucial.
